I have been involved in Dj politics such as this lad's situation for so long that it's a joke and I no longer partake in it.
There are far more important issues to worry about in the world. Even if you narrow it down solely to the Dj world. Even there, there are far more important issues to worry about.
It's because we worry about shit like this that we now have a DJ culture centred on it. Not that this issue isn't genuinely important for the guy, but, there was a time when we had a sense of social concious. Where, doing the right thing in this situation was common sense. Where piss farting about on what to do wasn't an issue because straight away, I could talk to who ever the problem lay with about the problem and we could formulate a solution together, AS A TEAM.
I had typed up my own experience surrounding similar issues but deleted it. My GENUINE advice. Talk to him. Openly, honestly as a mate. Work TOGETHER!!! Fuck this "Your set time My set time" fucking bullshit and work TOGETHER. Then you HAVE to support eachother. You have to TRUST eachother. Tell the bar owner that's what you would like to do.
Get together and PRACTICE TOGETHER! Be a TEAM. Don't be Me vs You in this. Because no matter how you put it, that's what's happening. No matter how you try to be buddy buddy about it. This bar owner will pit you against eachother until the better Dj wins. That's what's happend to me and I won. But in winning I lost a friend. Except he wasn't really a friend because he was a cock sucker. A big cock sucker. Infact, I think he is sucking someones dick right now. If I'm correct in my theory, it will be the cock of a psychopathic, delusional ass hole we went to school with whose head looks like a volleyball. But, that's just my theory. Whose cock he is sucking is not of importance. What is important is that the OP of this thread finds a CONSTRUCTIVE solution.
In the end, even if you work as a team nothing is guranteed. It's a cut throat industry but you don't have to stoop to that level of it. Enjoy what you do, fuck the politics of it. Talk to the bar owner first, openly, verify some shit. Talk to the other guy, openly, talk all 3 of you openly, create that 3 way bond of a team and fucking WORK TOGETHER for a common goal. Not individual ones. Make them secondary. If you want to be a famous Dj. The other guy wants to be a famous Dj and the bar owner wants the most profitable club in the clubsmos, then by working TOGETHER, you have more chance of it happening for all 3 of you. If you start keeping secrets and shit the others will to. You will all fall. Because you will all work to your own agendas and not to the success of the club. The club owner will look for other solutions and it may be assing both of you.
