commercial dance has been big since the 80's, it has little surges like this where its marginally more popular, but its pretty much always there, at least in the uk/europe, i suspect less so in the US&A

You're basically asking if computer-generated music is going to end as a fad. The ability to create virtually any sound possible with only a small investment means that it's a virtually untapped source of creativity and originality.

EDM, or computer-generated music in general, is here to stay for the long haul.

None of that necessarily has anything to do with it's popularity. It might be popular in terms of being made, but it could be unpopular compared to another genre in terms of listeners.

Trap/Dubstep/Moombahton will become the next big thing. Along with the remake of corney spanish songs, the same way Pitbull & Don Omar remake and ruin brazilian tracks these days.

They'll just be replaced with other "EDM" artists. The general public isn't going to discern genres too much. It's all EDM to them, with the exception of dubstep which has a specific, unique sound - which IS a fad.

Dubstep is not a fad; it's going to be around for years to come, in some mutated form or other. It's a genre that works with other genres, which means it's a strong thing.

I'd say the next commercial hit (genre-wise) will be reggae-based. Snoop Lion-style.
