    Beginner to Djing setup

hi everyone, I'm looking for some options on a beginner dj setup and I have no real experience djing. Right now I have an apc40 and ableton and feel comfortable on ableton and don't want to use djing software but run everything from session view. What I'm wanting is more freedom with effects and something with jog wheels and to launch clips from my apc and then remix it with a controller so it needs to be midi mapable. I've looked around at a bunch of controllers and all of seem to be made for dj software, i'd love to use 2 cdj's and a mixer but looking for a temporary cheaper option thats an all in one kind of system. Any help would be great, also any input on djing with ableton would be nice also. I use ableton for production and would like to keep everything in the same software, is it possible to use a controller with ableton or should i look into traktor or serato? Thanks, orry if these are newb questions, just trying to find an answer

Based on the fact you are already familiar with Ableton Live, I'd suggest starting with Serato's ITCH and moving towards the bridge. I know you are not gun-ho on software, but you are already using softwares and I suspect you would get bored with a traditional CD Player + Mixer setup. I could be way off, but I think if you started with an inexpensive ITCH solution you would find a nice happy place to build off of until you want to really change directions with DJing.

    Yes ^

Serato and Traktor both will allow you to synch with Ableton. Some other DVS programs like Torq do as well.

You could do what I do...I use a pair of turntables to control Traktor and synch it Ableton via Traktors virtual Midi port.

If you want to focus more on the dj aspect you could purchase the Lemur app or the Touchable app for Ableton control. Behringer has come out with a really cool new modular control setup that would allow you to have separate control over Ableton functions meaning one for clip launching and one for channel control so it's almost like a dj program. I use Ableton to trigger effects and samples/loops over Traktor. I run touchable on the iPad for Ableton control.

ok thanks guys for the help, is there anyway i could take what im playing through ableton and then run that live through traktor and mix it from there, I don't if I'm making stuff up, but is there anything like that where I can link the two together? Also how would you recommend djing with traktor and ableton, running one of top of the other?
    Thanks

You cannot route the sound between the two that I am aware of.

Using them together on one machine should be fine
