    DJ for a Car Meet

    Hey guys,

I've been asked to DJ for 3-4 hours at a car meet (Sydney, Australia). It is the grand opening of my mechanic's new performance workshop and he is also hosting a meet for the 86/BRZ club (the new Toyota FT-86 and Subaru BRZ) as part of the opening.

The majority of the crowd will be the JDM-type car scene (JDM, Hellaflush etc.)...but just puzzled as to what kind of music to play?

It's during the day so have been asked to play more chill out kind of music but I'm still stumped as to putting together a 3-4 hour playlist! I'm most likely going to premix the majority of the set so that I can walk around and socialise but still want back up songs in case.

Any ideas? Anyone had a similar gig to play at?

    Cheers,

    Jerome

spun at a few subaru meets myself Have always spun what I wanted to be honest. Split it up with a few other djs so there is a variety. Not everyone at meets will be into just edm.

a pic from the last meet I spun at awhile back. mine is the blue one 2nd to last car

    Nice!

I have a Subaru Legacy (or Liberty as we call them here) STI...but it's currently under the chop by the same man I am gigging for. He should have it back to me in 2 weeks which is when this meet is happening!

Pics of my other love in life:

    Got any other tips?

Honestly, EDM/ light (mainstream?) Dubstep / Electro- top 40 remixes and some Hip-Hop. Most people PROBABLY wont be too into the music and into cars. Thats coming from experience. My family does a charity car show every year here in Canada. i've never DJ'd one but that would be my best guess.

Ever listen to Pretty Lights? The more I think about it, that seems to be the chill kind of electric funk that I'd want to hear while looking around at cars at a meet. I think Break Science and Paper Diamond are on his label as well, maybe give a few

Very good suggestion and they have a ton of stuff for free (if not all?) on their website. I think laid back hip hop really is the ticket here.
