Who wants to have a CD stuck in their hand while they're dancing?
I'm with the as they're leaving part.
As people walk in
At some high point in the night
As people are leaving for the night
Who wants to have a CD stuck in their hand while they're dancing?
I'm with the as they're leaving part.
Get on the mic, tell folks that your latest and greatest - cannot miss - you will love it and want to marry it, mix CD is available now!! Its their lucky night cause they will be the first ones to get their hands on it and hear it. Encourage them to grab it on their way out and keep the party alive long after they have left the club.
Make periodic announcements. Not everyone leaves the club at the end, so you want to catch those leaving early. And also, not every one remembers, so you need to keep reminding them, but don't be a pest. Once every 45mins to an hour or so should be enough

If I am playing all night, this is what I do....have a friend take a stack of CDs out into the crowd towards the end of my set and give them to people who have been into it.
If I am not closing, I personally come out of the booth a few minutes after my set and thank people for coming and hand them a CD.
Not sure either will get you more gigs - but it will get you more fans and show you respect the dancers and they will come hear you again.
Scantily-clad, skinny girls with blonde hair and fake tan stood outside the club handing them to people as they're leaving to get in a taxi... that's how it's done here.
