In Your Opinion what are the best effects on Serato?

Hi, i recently bought Serato and i have messed around with the effect alittle here and there.
The question i have is which effect do you think are best?

i've noticed some are very simalar or when pressed i hear no change at all.
I have a djm 600 hooked up through my scratch mixer so if needs be i could just use them but thought i should give these a chance.

I have used the search facility and it seems this has not been asked before

    thanks.

Personally, I hate the effects on Serato. I mix on a Rane 57ttm and even trying to navigate to the effects area gives me cause for concern.
Hit the wrong button and you can quickly, easily embarass yourself in front of tons of dancing fans.

The Serato effects are not intuitive. The Serato effects are not easy to get to. The Serato effects do not add anything to my mixing.

If you wanna use effects, do what most dj's do and use a Pioneer 900. Though I'd be happy to add my opinion that those 6 effects (crush, filter, etc.) have been used to death and just annoy me when I hear other dj's using them.
In addition, the knob effects on the right of the 900 are also used to death and have been since 1998.

I know many will disagree with me on this... But built in effects are only cool when new effects come out that are built into the unit... But they get overused so quickly, I see no point in using them.

Unless of course you are one of those crazy dj's who knows how to do really insane shit like setting echo's and then throwing the pitch control around on the platter. But the only people I see doing that type of effect work are the DJ's in the demo videos for Pioneer.
I've never seen a dj do that stuff live (for EDM).

The only effects, if you call them that, that I consistently use are the loops. Not because it makes my set better, I just enjoy using them. I guess if I'm really trying to back-back my breaks they are essential... But even back to back breaks can be overwhelming.

I'll often set the loop at the beginning of the track and just play with the thickness of the bass or the high and tweak pitch.

I can also tell you, the audience is 99% of the time blissfully unaware of the effects that are being used when they are being used and it doesn't really add much to the set. I like to think of the effects as DJ masturbation. Something to do when your bored but isn't doing nearly as much as we would like to pretend it's doing.

But then again... I'm a total weirdo and and am about to get flamed for these opinions...

The Serato effects suck if you don't have a controller. Activating those effects with your laptop/computer is dumb. That's why I have my M-Audio X-Session Pro to control the effects. That being said, I like the 1 Knob Filter, Echo Out and Filter Roll. I have to stop using the Filter Roll.

I never use the effects in SSL. I'll use the high pass filter on my xone if anything. I've never gotten around to getting a controller but I've managed just fine.

lol thanks for the response mate, i sort of agree i don't have much experience using effects having just played around with them here and there.
But my feeling is that i could be mixing something in quicker better or i could be scratching instead.

i just have a feeling that they are there so i should use them.
