Thread: Was I wrong?

    Was I wrong?

I comment on this guys track on Sound Cloud:
"Whoa whoa.. everything is off. Nothing lines up properly in here
Sounds like loads of sounds thrown in all over the place."

He replies and then MUTES me so I can't reply back:
"@Ellissentials: I actually recorded temposync, beat matched, it does sound "smoother", but slower. I prefer this take, quicker. So" the loads of sounds" are the same, but slower."

    WTF?!
Here is the track in question. Was I wrong?

*EDIT* After speaking with him we've come to an understanding. I've removed the track to help any future "embarrassment"

NOW he found one of my tracks, and comments (obviously in vengeance)

"no wonder you thought my track was charged, this is too naked, sounds dull to me!, devoid of interest. Good muzak?"
    :sigh:

I never said that you were wrong. If you read the comments, you'll notice that I acknowledged, thanked and even rerecorded it. What bothered me was your "whoa, whoa.." Others who commented before you were more to the point all while being helpful. Then you come up with the "loads of sounds" the comments mention temposync but are appreciative of the concept...I checked your tracks out and thought no wonder, if too much noise is not good, nor is too little. For the rest, you are entirely free to think what you want, I am not the type to start stupid arguments and would rather have muted you then go on. When I saw though that you still Favorited it, I thought I might have misinterpreted your approach, unmuted you and gave another try at your tracks. Usually, I always find something kind to say or shut up. Honestly, I do find your music a little nude, not very challenging, but yet again, that is only my personal preference. Thanks for the support. The John Carpenter "Halloween" theme was my first remix using a film theme. I am surprised though at your reaction, are you a cry baby? Have to gang up with your friends to make a point already made and acknowledged? The beats and sounds are okay, but I find that all beat matched they sound slower, takes away for me some of the tension. Maybe a solution would be to speed up the theme

"Whoa whoa" was said because every sound in that "remix" was off, and it immediately threw me for a loop. Sounds clashing everywhere. Then you go and listen and comment on my most MINIMAL track (listen to the original Moby track to see even more minimal) and say it's "naked"

It looks like about half the comments mention that the beats are not lined up. I am surprised by all the comments that don't seem to notice it though. Maybe its listed under experimental or something and not supposed to be lined up.

there are no rules in music

if you want to have some atmospheric sounds which are out of sync then your free to do so

other people are also free not to like it though

personally i think the tune sounds a bit all-over-the-place and needs to be tidied up. and presented in a way that the listners know that the out of sync stuff is intentional, and not accidental.
