Buying my first set of speakers

Hi i have been teaching my self how to mix music for about 3 months now and have decided to get out of the bed room and get amoungest it and take the next step of learning.

i have 5 gigs happening in about 2 months time so i need me some speakers.

i do house parties and i am pure dubstep/breakbeat dj with a hint of dnb

so these are the speakers i am looking at. nothing to flash just looking for something that i can get in my price range witch is 3000 bucks but i dont realy wana spend that if i don't have to.

so this is what i am looking at.

    1 EV ELX118P sub $950.

    2 EV ELX115P speakers $850 each.

    all up 2650 bucks.

i have heard a lot of good things about these speakers and not much bad.

anywho this is where you come in.

please give me your opinion on if i am getting the best for my money or some other speakers you would recommend for around the same price thanks =D

For what you're looking at, try and get a deal on 2 RCF 312A's, JBL PRX612M's or QSc K12's and a single Yorkville LS801P or JBl VRX918SP or a pair of QSC KW181, JBl PRX618S XLF.

However that being said, I personally would look into renting for these gigs, if you still want to do this at the end of these 5 gigs then look into purchasing.

Maybe substitute out the 15" tops with the 12" tops if your gonna use the sub with em all the time, then you might even have enough to buy another sub then you'd be kush

I'd rather see you spend more on the bass and less on the tops. A sub most of us can almost always recommend, especially for your type of music, is the Yorkville LS801P (depending on your car and your location).

The 801P is certainly a viable option IF you are working with a partner AND if you have room for it. Best bang for the buck SPL wise IF you can manage its size and weight...
    KV2 KX12s - RCF Art 310As (X4) - Yamaha DXR8s - Yorkville NX55Ps - Yorkville LS720P - Wharfedale Titan 12A - Yamaha MG12/4 X 2 (older and newer version) - Peavey PV10 - Shure cordless - Stanton CD player - Sony Minidisc decks - LED lights - AMDJ dual SD player

I didn't have much of an issue deadlifting an 801P into my truck by myself. But if you have a Sedan, you won't be able to get it in.

    Blasphemy I tell you!!!!!!

LOL, not but seriously he does make a good point.... Then again the OP does state that he plays Dubstep as well as DnB which both are bass heavy genre.

I dunno where you live, but you can get that setup for much much less... Those seem like retail prices.
