I was thinking of getting 10-12 slimpar 56 cans and maybe a chauvet obey 3 controller. Will 10-12 cans be enough?
Anyways how would you spend the $1000 for uplighting? Thanks in advance

Due to a difference of design, I'd go with Blizzard's Puck RGB fixtures. They are brighter and with the offset plug panel can lay flat on the floor if desired. Pricing is the same.
I'll agree on the Pucks over the slimpars. I'm a dealer for both, so I'm not trying to be biased to Blizzard. I think they have the better product and I use them in my productions over the Chauvet units.
Conversely, I have a bunch of Chauvet 412's over the Blizzard Flurry's for my 101/301 style washes. I'm just telling you which unit I'd pick, and for uplighting, my vote goes for the Blizzard uplights. For your budget, RGB is about all you can afford if you want to get close to that number of lights.
Great question, D. What happens when a client needs 15 or 20 lights? I'd probably spend the money on old school par 38s and get a bunch of them with narrow beams. Once you start turning a profit you can afford to get 20-25 good LEDs and those par cans will still come in handy for cake tables, etc.
uplighting rental
That's a waste of money. With everything going LED now, it would be a better move to rent any additional uplighting needed instead of blowing it off on conventional pars.
Besides, you would also need to buy a bunch of gels for each par, to fit every clients needs.
Plus, who would want to buy those off of you in two years time?
And I wouldn't use conventional pars to spotlight a cake table due to the heat issue. No one want a melted and soggy cake.
+1 on Blizzard's Pucks
Uplighting is one of the much large investments for a DJ. I personally would need at least 3-4K for a full uplighting rig of 20 LED pars.

Several of my customers went with incandescent Part instead of LED and they are very happy. Why? Because they started to turn a profit on the second gig. One in particular was on the phone with me last week ordering gel for an up coming wedding and mentioned how good an investment it was. He has 30 fixtures and in the last three years has rented them over 150 times.
He charges $ 600.00 to uplight a room no matter how many fixtures it takes (up to 30) So to date he has grossed over $ 90,000 on an original investment of $ 1260.00
I'm not suggesting one way over another, just passing along the experiences I've heard about.
Added: BTW, he also purchased an Altman Shakespeare Zoom leko from me for gobo projection and buys about 40 custom gobos from me a year. He's said to me he's DJing less gigs but making more money.

I think you meant 9,000. I would go the led route though. Keep your eyes peeled in the marketplace. I think Nickeventpro has some units up there right now.
nope 90k is right check ur math
What uplights cost 1200 for 30?

Par38's with 75w halogen spots. They come in around $ 40.00 complete per fixture.
