The problem with mau5 and other now becoming popular EDM producers is that with the expansion of their audience now it includes a lot of people who dont understand what an EDM event is about, so they need to provide a more familiar experience: a rock concert.

A couple of years ago you could see mau5 performing at outdoor parties in Brazil with thousands dancing not caring for any light show (it as at light of day also).

Now you see the crowd at his presentation they are standing, just waving hands and shouting.

I feel like that's a bit of a stretch to be making that claim, but the rest I agree with.
