Decision and Advice: SeismicAudio-PWS-12 & Numark MixDeck:

    Hello Folks,

After a lot of advice and reading around and looking at my particular circumstances, I decided to get a modest gear to start my DJ adventure. I settled on:
    MixDeck (http://www.numark.com/product/mixdeck/)
Given budget contraints went for a pair of Seismic Audio PWS-12 speakers: http://www.seismicaudiospeakers.com/...r-p/pws-12.htm

Now, I need an advice on how to connect my subwoofer. I have an BIC-PL-200 subwoofer: http://www.amazon.com/BIC-PL-200-Aco.../dp/B001W3FXAQ
This is a powered subwoofer with the following specs:

    Front-Firing 12" Long-Throw Powered Subwoofer with state-of-the-art BASH amplifier
1000 Watts Dynamic Peak Output, 250 Watts RMS Continuous
Frequency Response: 22Hz - 200Hz, adjustable crossover & volume controls
    Sensitivity: 110dB @ 30Hz
12" poly-injected, with high power magnet and long excursion surround

The sub has sets of RCA inputs and outputs as well as a SUB-IN jack. Since I am not using a home audio receiver and the mixdeck does not have an SUB-OUT jack, how do I connect the subwoofer to my rig? Is it possible to connect it to my PWS-12s?

    Thanks - Oyiwaa

That is a home audio sub, designed for a small studio. Your budget powered 12"s will outrun them.
If you can sell the whole works and get (one) decent powered speaker you will be better off in the long run...
1/4 to rca adaptors will work in the meantime.

    One Speaker ?

Mr. Doom, thanks for your advice re selling the whole stuff and getting one decent speaker. I am willing to do that, but I thought it would be better to get a pair - so you can have L/R stereo effects .... . Would it still be possible to get a decent stereo sound from just one speaker? If so, then I will think of returning the Seismics and get a Mackie or Samson unit.

    Thanks - Oyiwaa

The Bi-amplified Mackie and Samsons should sound much better than the SA boxes but many here would not consider them "decent" for anything but small gigs (under 50 people) . You won't get "stereo" sound from one good speaker but you will get good sound and down the road you can add another and not be looking to unload a bunch of mediocre equipment.

That is an awful and simply too cheap setup IMO. The Numark MIGHT be OK, but buy it from someone loval where you can take advantage of the warranty. Skip the home audio sub, it will be truly useless combined with PA speakers. Substitute the SA cabs (and the useless sub) with a single pair of Samson Auro D415As. They are the lowest priced entry level speakers I would recommend. They sound surprisingly good for their low price and have a nice FULL sound even without a sub. They actually come with free stands from this seller :

Thanks - I returned both the MixDeck and SA speakers -- I've created a different topic asking for questions on controllers. I would very much appreciate your contributions and input. Thanks - Oyiwaa
