Help! New to Traktor...doesn't play tracks VDJ would.

    Hey guys,

Quick background...I just switched up from VDJ and Hercules RMX setup to the Pioneer DDJ-T1 and Traktor Software that accompanies it. I totally wiped out my hardrive on my gig laptop (with the exception of saving all of my music) and reloaded windows 7 and just the drivers i needed. Only loaded the DDJ Asio driver and Traktor software. The controller and Traktor seem to be working great except a good chunk of my songs won't play. I get an error that says the track is either corrupt or I think, "DRM" protected? I may not have that last part right as I do not have the error up in front of me but hopefully someone knows what I'm talking about. Does anyone know a way around this? These tracks used to play fine through Virtual DJ and still play fine through Windows Media Player so what gives? Thanks in advance for the advice. Cheers!

Load iTunes. It will give Traktor the codec it needs to play your m4a (aac / mp4) files.

So put all my music into I-tunes? I've always used PC stuff so only semi-familiar with I-tunes although I do make some purchases with it.

Sounds line they tracks were purchases they iTunes and when you wiped and reinstalled your mics it list the key to let you play those tracks. That's the reason your getting the protected code now and weekly traktor is showing up missing files. I could be wrong but that's what happen to me in serato and iTunes when I switch to it.

Never brought a song from ITunes again.

No, you don't need to put any of the songs into iTunes, you simply have to have iTunes loaded on the PC. Then Traktor will pick up the codec from iTunes and play the songs.

You can just install Quicktime movie player instead of Itunes if you want.

Installing iTunes did not work. I'll try Quicktime. Btw, I think I actually bought these tracks from iTunes that aren't playing now....hmm

Quicktime Movie Player seems to have solved the issue. Thanks everybody

Okay, it worked for me to load iTunes, but I think Quicktime loaded with iTunes, so that must have given me the codec.
