So then, before I make my mind up. . .My initial thought was to purchase 2 KW 152's to compliment my 2, 153's and 2, Yorkville 801p's. . . .that's not a good idea, right? I should concentrate on higher powered loud speakers such as the KW 122's or something equivalent for louder highs and clearity, right? Just to be sure, the 152's would not give me the added highs and clearity with the gear that I already have? Is that correct? Not sure why I am stuck on the 152's

Here's my thought, and possible setup. Tell me what you think.

    Still to Purchase (2 Kw 122's or something equal)Already have (2 KW 153's) and (2 Yorkville Ls801's)

Would that suffice a loud crowd of about 300 people, in-door, out-door or mall event, or High-school gym?

Right. Never mix different cabs. You don't need fifteen loaded tops when you have subs, twelves work better and are smaller and lighter. If you're going to keep the 153s then you want to add two more 153s. But rather than add two more cabs that are far larger than you need to do the job I'd switch to four twelve loaded cabs. Bigger isn't better, it's just bigger.

Bill you suggested, the Best route to go is to purchase two more 153's or buy 4 122's. I think the cheapest way out for me is to buy 2 more 153's because I already have two 153's. I know that you stated bigger is not always better but there's a presence, (advantage) factor in terms of what people see. I know that's being superficial, but would having 2 more 153's, other than a inconvenience issue be that bad, in terms of overall sound. In otherwords, is there anything good about adding the 153's versus the 122's?

There's nothing bad about adding 153s except for the cartage issue. But nothing to be gained over a pair of 122s either when subs are handling the low end.

Thanx for the response. I think I'll go listen to the 122's tomorrow.

Anybody that uses QSC 122's, I will appreciate your comment.

Ideally do so paired with subs. On their own the 153 would naturally sound better.

Maybe i'm confused here, but am I reading it right that the 122's shouldn't be splayed, but stacked, and the 153's can be splayed?

neither really should be splayed but that's not to say people don't do it any way (still doesn't make it the best solution either).

They're both subject to the same laws of acoustics, as are all speakers.

    Bill-

I've wanted to ask this question before, when stacking two cabs does it have any decibel benefit? Or is it setup that way to simply eliminate filtering and provide more coverage?
