    optimal use for mixer choice?

A pioneer djm mixer has 4 channels, for use with 4 tracks that you want to mix. The mixer as we all know is abundant in clubs, and great for mixing, not for scratching. Alot of people only use the mixer to mix 2 tracks.

I have 2 technics, and I am looking for a new mixer. I was looking at pioneers, but then I started pondering that idea of mixing 4 tracks. I don't have 4 technics, but I do have traktor scratch pro. Now would this be a good idea to get a pioneer even though I only have 2 technics, or is there another mixer I should be looking at? How optimal would it be to have this set up?

I was thinking about getting a battle mixer, because I can scratch and also mix with it, possibly a gemini brand, or stanton brand.

for the two techs id seriously look into getting the xone02 (maybe even the xone 22). good battle mixer with a good crossfader. also possible to drop an innofader crossfader in it if you want. The only thing you have to consider is that the xone 02 doesnt have full kill EQs. The sweet thing about the 02 is that it almost a 4 channel mixer. you can have 4 sources plugged in at a time. There are two gain knobs per channel.

I'd probably stay away from gemini honestly... I had one of their 4 channel mixers and the faders crapped out pretty fast.

Depends on what audio box do you have with TSP? If you have a box that has 4 or more outs like the Audio 8/10 then I say go for the 4 channel mixer because you can always eventually add in a small controller like an X1/F1, CMD, Xone K2, HC1000 or the likes to control the other decks as full fledge deck or as sample or remix decks.

If you only have a 2 channel audio box then unless you are planning on either upgrading or add additional decks later, then you might be better off sticking with a nice 2 channel mixer.

If you don't have an audio box yet and you want to use Traktor, then the Pioneer DJM-850 might be perfect for you. That way you can use two timecode vinyl decks and two virtual internal decks and mix them all together without ever having to purchase an Audio soundcard. Then you can also add other timecode CD or vinyl decks at your own pace if you ever want to. The crossfader is still generally good for scratching and the effects for mixing are tight... Just another option.
