    First equipment help

Hi I'd just like any advice that you could give me on buying my first piece of equipment - I've done a little research and at the moment am considering buying a digital deck (specifically Pioneer DDJ-ERGO). Obviously I don't have much knowledge or experience, so if you could give me any advice on if it would be a good place to start, or if I'd be better off with something like a mixer and two cd/mp3 players etc etc it would help a lot. Feel free to add anything else, the more you can tell me the better.

    Cheers.

A mixer and 2 CDJs would be a bit more traditional if you're looking to learn the skills of DJing. You would also end up having an easier time transitioning to other types of gear. Not sure what your budget is, but check the "Equipment for Sale" part of the forum.

Cheers, that's the sort of thing i was wanting to find out..
Budget wise ive saved a bit of money and have my birthday coming up so i think it will be around £400- The general theme I've got from what I've read is to buy good equipment once rather than rubbish equipment lots?
music wise id be happy to try most things but would say house music if i had to choose. Thanks again.

Eh, I don't know. You can buy decent quality, entry level gear to get you started. Try it for some time and make sure you're into DJing. If 6 months to a year down the road, you find you've outgrown your setup and you know what you want for your next one, then go for it. No sense buying expensive gear right away. The time you spend learning on an entry level setup will help you figure out what you want in your next set up.
