    Worlds Coolest Turntable!

Well, I don't know if it is the worlds coolest, but it is cool. This little toy looking VW Bus is actually a turntable. It is called a Soundwagon. It has a speaker on top, and a needle on the bottom. When you put it on a record and turn it on, it spins around the record and plays the song. Yes it sounds like crap, and it probably is not doing the vinyl any good, but it is still fun to show it off. This one was made in the early 1970's in Japan. You can still buy them brand new, but they are a reproduction and made in China. They also make one that looks like a new Mini Cooper. Here is a video of one in action. It is not my video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJfauJmup24 Here is a picture of my Soundwagon:

HTFR used to sell them over here. I think the stylus was the size of a knitting needle

Mine is made by Tamco, which is the original. The newer reproduction ones made by Styko are supposed to sound a little better, but not much better.

I've seen those, the look like they will fly off the record while in action. They don't though. That's a small miracle.

I remember seeing these in magazines in the early 00's. Cool idea.
