As far a speaker building goes particle board has no redeeming qualities. MDF is OK when you want to veneer the box, and the box will never be moved, which rules it out for pro-sound.

I am however, building a pair of 42" tall 10" Wide x10" Deep 8 woofer/8 tweeter columnar speakers out of OSB to see how well they stand up to road use
Bad idea. I good whack in load in/load out will go right through it. Yes, it's inexpensive, but it doesn't last. Buy once, cry once.

no need for osb, get 30$ arauco, and put a textured speaker cab paint on like duratex. it seals the wood and makes it waterproof
