On the subject of "Double derby" I have a mod that uses half the power of the regular 2 mini bulb 600watt configuration.
I remember in the 90's seeing this done to the "low voltage" versions in the UK that weighed a ton because of the large transformer inside
What you do is to replace the standard fixture in the Derby with a halogen worklight fixture...bit of soldering required but not essential.
Uses 250 watts upto 500watts depending on bulb.. and makes for an awesome effect with smoke!

Couldn't follow the links for photos, so I only saw the ones in this thread.
My guess is they are new to the business. That, coupled with being young, they bought what they could afford on a pretty limited budget. Hopefully, they will find DJF and work on their presentation, cord management, etc.
Those who haven't been hired to work for professional companies don't think about things like cord management. "It's all about the music." If they don't have a mentor/boss teaching them about visual aesthetics, it's probably not something they will consider.
In one way that's good, Dixie. You have nothing to worry about, comparing your presentation and the care you take in having a finished, polished appearance, to their appearance. However, sometimes, having a competitor who brings an "A" game is good too... it forces you both to get even better.![]()
I didnt post but she called Sunday night about 8pm. We talked but as most of you know, we dont do outside events. We discussed the event & I gave her some advice on some venues as she isn't happy about her daughters wedding under the carport in December. She says she is going to call some venues this week & get some prices, available dates etc. Whether she does or not, its anyone's guess.
In the end she said she was glad we don't do outside events as she really didn't want it at her house. When we played the last daughters wedding reception, it was at an old fire station that was remodeled especially for events like this. I will try to post a couple of pics of that venue.

What is with the homemade box truss? Truss gets its strength from triangles, I guess no one ever told them that. That would be just as strong if they welded all 4 pipes together. I bet a piece of I-beam truss would be as strong as that welded joke.

I help the little guy do that massive show they always dreamed about with my production team.
Peavey SP118 paired with a PV118.... uhhhh..
Edit: My bad. Can't see tonight. Haha. Was wondering why someone would buy all matching speakers and have one different one as though they couldn't afford the last sub. After looking again I feel stupid. Sorry about that.![]()

Some blank rack plates, $5 wire looms, and a tablecloth would go a long way in improving that setup. A way to actually mix music would be cool too...![]()
