Would you guys like to elaborate a little on this?

This is a couple of guys about 30 miles from me. Below is their FB page & a direct link to their pictures. If you recognize any of this equipment, feel free to elaborate on that as well.
I thought I might see some decent "set up" pics by the time I got to the end of the pics but... it didn't seem to get any nicer. I don't know if this was their final presentation but it sure is tacky.

The only things I recognized was the Peavey speakers (don't know the model tho) & the Double Derby light up there. I am sure you guys will be more familiar with some of the other equipment they're using.

I don't know anything about these guys as I just found them on Craigslist: http://monroe.craigslist.org/evs/3175179186.html

    1) How should I know... Ask the client!
    2) If you put it where I can see it, I'm gonna look at it. If you don't want me to see it, keep it covered up.

Truss looks suspect. Looks like a couple of kids getting started. They got the trailer going for them.

61 people seem to think their worth while.

Not saying that justifies anything. They could have gotten their mom and their whole extended family to like the page.

Agree, especially since people these days have hundreds of friends on Facebook, half of whom they don't even know.

Forget the trailer. I'm more concerned about:

    Beats

But hey, better than nothing I suppose. Although the $200 they could have saved buying DJ headphones instead of Beats could have been invested somewhere else.

Also, seeing their "mixer," I suspect they only play music, and not do any actual mixing.

Who knows, maybe they are just starting out, and props to them for taking the initiative, but they have a lot to improve on if they want to stay in the game.

Just part a of the flooded DJ business, looks like they are new to the profession. I try not to comment on equipment of other DJ's you buy what works for you and you buy what you can afford.

Dixie you seem to have your own client following, I would not view them as a threat to your business.

Agreed. I saw the Beats before proceeding down through the thread and wondered if anyone else would have noted them before I did.

I wouldn't be too quick to presume that... It's a Peavey 3D Mix Pro.

Sure, it's not a top-of-the-line mixer... but keep in mind that I used Peavey DJ mixers exclusively for my DJ performances from my first DJ gig in 1989 until earlier this year, when I upgraded to an Allen + Heath.

Granted, the 3D Mix Pro that they have there was a rather gimmicky-looking mixer that Peavey released shortly before they (unfortunately) decided to stop producing DJ mixers... but I doubt that it's a bad unit, and it could easily be used for beatmatching and mixing. It's even got a built-in sampler... which none of my Peavey mixers ever did.

All that being said: I, too, would be surprised if they were actually beatmixing - but my surprise would come from the fact that they're very young, they appear to be beginners in the mobile industry (which doesn't require beatmixing even though it's a nice bonus), and - oh, yeah - they appear to be playing the music from two individual laptops and an iPod.

Although Peavey isn't really renowned in the DJ world, it's not a bad company, and I had many great experiences with my Peavey mixers over the years. It's not like we're looking at a Gemini or Radio Shack product.

I agree...the truss does look suspect. Love the Peavey speakers though. I too started off on Peavey stuff back in 1985.
