SSL questions... threshold slider, scope rings, headphones faster than main speakers

Just a few questions regarding SSL...

First, when calibrating, I play some music in internal mode, set the needle on the record with the record stopped and click the estimate button. My slider then goes all the way to the right when in "phono" mode on the same page and the slider will go all the way to the left if in "line" mode. I still need to set my slider some where half way so the record is more sensitive to slow movement but not sure why it doesn't guess that part itself. SSL is installed inside my mixer and everything is grounded, and my TT's are internally grounded as well.

Another are the scope rings, they are very circular like they're supposed to be but they are different sizes even at the same "zoom" level and no matter where the needle is on the record. Anyone else have this issue? If it's even an issue, I don't know but it doesn't seem right.

3rd question is why my waveforms are not in sync with my mains. As I'm getting back into beat matching, I've been using the waveforms as a guide but it's messing me up because they're just not in sync, they're off ever so slightly. I at first thought it was my headphones being ahead of my mains but that's not the case. If I can't fix this, is there a way to display my digital decks in a large format like with the waveforms but disable the waveforms? I want the large decks so I can see my hot cues and what not, any advice here?

If you are in internal mode, it does not matter how you calibrate, the calibration is only need in ABS or REL modes. Internally grounding your TT's can cause some problems.

They should be the same size. You use the shape knobs to make them as close to circles as you can.

Try hitting the - once to back out the waveforms one step. IMO Real dj's dont need waveforms to mix.

I don't really understand your answer, I'm not trying to calibrate for any mode, I'm trying to calibrate in general and was following a Youtube tutorial on calibrating and he used internal mode to play music and was able to calibrate no problem. Also, what kind of problems can be had from internally grounding my TT's?

They arent the same size but I can make them circular no problem, that is not my issue. I'm just wondering why they aren't the same size. I also checked my records this morning, they are both on side A.

I'm not saying I need the waveforms to mix, but it's a bit of a distraction when they aren't in sync with my music and I'm wondering why. IMO, "real" dj's don't need most of the gear they already have, to mix, but they are all helpful tools, no?

Thanks for your help so far

in INT mode, it does not use the time code to run. its processes it internally. using ABS or REL mode to calibrate is a better way to get your set up correct. As for the grounding, I have seen them(tt's) become more susceptible to vibration.

If the tone circles are not at the same magnification, it happens sometime, just make them the same.
