    I think Alcahol ruins everything.

Where I come from, alcahol is a way of life. You don't go out to have fun, you go out to drink yourself stupid. The result from the government has been, "Well lets close more pubs and clubs", the response from patrons has been "awsome, we're all kicked out of the pubs and clubs at 3am now, when the nights still young, we have no where to go cos half the clubs and pubs have closed down.... Well fellas... LETS HAVE A MASSIVE FUCKING FIGHT AND STAB OURSELVES STUPID!" .... Fair enough. ... And well, young kids are the same. "No more pubs and clubs to run underage dance parties anymore (alcahol free)... LETS GO INTO THE CITY AND GET PISSED OFF CHEAP WINE AND SMASH PEOPLE AND STAB THE INNOCENT!!! MUAAAHAHHAHAHA WE ARE YOUNG!!! WE CAN GET AWAY WITH SCARRING PEOPLE FOR LIFE!!! MUAHAHAHAHAHH" .... That's because, well kids these days... They should all be stabbed anyway.

Well... The last 3 gigs I did were alcahol free. Because, the majority of parties and nights my friends host and things like that have been well, FUCKING HORRIBLE! so I've gone back to doing mobile gigs because in all honesty, they just party harder... Much harder!

Anyways. So the last 3 gigs I did, no aclcahol and they partied LONGER and danced harder than all the aclahol or drug fuelled gigs. They appreciated the music more. EVERYONE was more friendly. No one was annoying and, at the risk of sounding too, 'G' rated ..... It was good wholesome fun!

I'm seriously starting to think this may be the way forward. The way to "save the party" so to speak. People just don't get together for good music anymore unless theres alcahol or drugs to make it appeal to them.

Is it time to start hiring out scout halls again and doing gigs as a kind of, community art project as opposed to a party in some, vain attempt to get people to appreciate quality music for what it SHOULD be? (Which is simply, Music good enough to enjoy for what it is, for the talent gone into it, not for the mind altering substances consumed prior to hearing it in order to enjoy it).

tbh... i'm not a fan of drunk kids everywhere.. but when i'm out there spinning in the club, i prefer the the time slots from 4am - 6am or the afterhour slots somwhere between 6am - 12am. And thats because I love to play tunes where people can "fall" & feel into. And to be able to do that most ppl have to be eighter drunk or on drugs - sad but true.

    Alcahol
When I read the title I thought you were being sarcastic.

I hate "dry gigs" especially if its a wedding, people don't need to be drunk but a few drinks takes the edge off so everyone is just chilled and its good for the dance floor.

AdrianR, I think you'll find that alcohol - ideally - simply lowers people's guard so that they actually enjoy whatever they wanted to do. Those that wanted to dance - dance more. Those that want to hit on others, hit on many others. Those that want to fight, unfortunately get into fights.

I don't blame alcohol, I blame the crowd. If you're at a club, the club should invest in bouncers to control the problem people... as there will always be some. Don't get down. People are ultimately the problem.
