I think were are all in the end of the transitioning period from vynil/turntables to all digital. Much like the transition from 8- tracks to tapes and tapes to cd's and now cd's to ipod's etc. Like everything times change along with technology and movement. Although awesome to have turntables etc you must keep up with technology or you get left behind with it. Clubs are making the transition and soon maybe 5-10 yrs from now I believe TT's will be completely obsolete at any major event if not already. But keep hope alive and keep spinning.

I've experimented with keyboard mappings and controllers and have settled for now on a small controller for mixer functions, and keyboard mapping for deck controls. This seems to feel right - use one device for mixing, the other for play control. I do have some mixer functions mapped on the keyboard so I can experiment when traveling without using the controller.

I don't agree. They've been saying vinyl's on it's way out for years now, it's not dead yet.

Absolutely agree with you on this. The only thing I can back up my claim is the past 15 yrs or so with the technology that has advanced turntables. Example CD decks, CD/TT hybrids ,MP3 players, Serato and now Controllers ETC. More efficient ways of accessing and storing music as well as playing it have come out. Fact is the more and more I go to clubs, parties, events the less and less I see 1200's. I was at the Bill Lowe Art Gallery in Atlanta GA this past weekend for the Sneaker Fest Tour and DJ SCRATCH , JUST BLAZE were there - what did they have you might ask? MAC BOOK PROS and controllers. I believe Just Blaze had an NI controller but not sure which one. It just goes to show you that even legends who grew up on vynil are making the switch. I believe every DJ should own a set of tables and pay homage and actually learn first on them - but I do think and eventually they will become obsolete and it sucks because when you think of a DJ you dont think of a lap top, you think of vynil and a TT's.

well, what you say's debatable, different formats have their pro's & con's in equal measure I think. For sure, wicked vinyl DJ's switched to digital, yet by the same measure, I see wicked digital DJ's getting back into vinyl 'longside their digital vibe. Vinyl will never die; it's too ingrained in our culture to disappear.

Oh yea for sure man, Its just up to preference and what your comfortable- hell they even have classes that talk about the turntable/8 tracks etc. And like I stated before the first thing people think of when you say DJ is a set of turntables. Matter a fact imma dust off my 1200's and put in work. Motivation
