HELPP!! What dj equipment is best for me?? Advice needed

    Hi all,

I have decided i want to get into djing as i am right into all kinds of music genres. But what equipment should i buy?? This would mainly be a hobby but could progress in the future. I am on a low price budget as i am just starting. I was doing my research on the net of differant kinds of dj equipment and i was interested in the numark mixdeck-good or bad? I have an ipod and want to mix music from that but i guess this means buying a laptop for controllers like this. Most of my music isnt on CD's and i dont want to have to buy cds when i already have music id like to mix... any ideas would be appreciated

If you're looking for an entry-level setup, take a look at the MixTrack Pro or Traktor Kontrol S2. Both are controllers and are pretty high on the bang-for-your-buck scale. They both seem to be easily resellable if you don't like DJing or want better.

Pioneer Ergo is a good choice that will help you transition well to other equipment.

Your going to need a laptop...look at it like a human body....the laptop is like the brains of your setup....the controller is like the body....cant have one without the other...

There are some that Use CDs: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/pro-a...d-usb-playback

Some others have inputs to plug in turntables of other sources.

However, to get the most out of the controller, it requires software, which requires a computer.

If it's just a hobby, then just use the computer your using right now. You don't need a laptop.

MIDI is a control protocol, by nature a MIDI controller is just a device that controls other devices. In the case of DJ-style MIDI controllers, they control playback from software on the computer. As far as I know, the Stanton SCS4DJ is the only controller with the computing hardware built-in.

Many people have been happy with the Mixtrack Pro... but you'll have to upgrade Traktor or Virtual DJ to the full versions. Why not spend a little more and get the S2 - which is a better controller - and get the full version of Traktor?

Truth being said, you'll be fine no matter what you buy. The tendency is to underbuy, learn, realize that you want more, sell the first controller, and get a better one. Why not simply start off with a better controller?

I use the Mixtrack Pro. It was my first controller and I'am super happy with it. Well built and does everything you need it to do.
