    DJing Outside My Box

I've been schooling myself on Ableton, I'm using a friends Launchpad.

I've figured DJing with Ableton for the first time with my Denon MC6000, Launchpad, and Ableton.

You ever force yourself to learn new techniques or platforms? Keeps you sharp!

Yep! Just started learning Traktor (with a little, bloody, button machine thingy). Anyways, before that I was Vinyl & Cd. I think every medium has it's own like, vocabulary of tricks to it. Like every music genre does and some of those tricks transfer beautifully over to other mediums and some don't, regardless, it's ALWAYS good to look outside your box on the whole spectrum of EVERYTHING artistic.

I like to do things I'm shit at That's how I look outside my box.

It's always good to be versatile. Especially if you're a mostly-vinyl DJ like me as the opportunites to play vinyl on a working set of turntables are few and far between...

I just picked up an S4, and trying to get used to it for a small weekly gig I have that I am getting tired of bringing my real gear to. I do have to say it is kinda fun, but def not the same, although that is the direction the industry has been heading for quite some time now. Just being able to beatmatch does you nothing nowadays

Started out digital, but bought a set of turntables to learn the art of vinyl DJing.

I started out with vinyl, then got Traktor soon after so I could use my digital library. I plan on grabbing a VCI 400 soonish to expand on what I can do with the program. As for trying out different techniques: all the time! Even during my Faderwave sets I'm more likely to try new things because of the immediate feedback.

I love my CDJ's but I'm really tempted to try out a digital program. It would save two CDs a week for my mixes.

Currently rolling with CDJs and CDS but am wanting to save up and buy TSP2 in the near'ish future, need to wait for the funds to roll in or some type of reduced price.
