    Behringer B215XL vs B215D

    Hey,
I have a few questions about the Behringer B215XL and B215D. I know that the B215XL is passive while the B215D is active, so my first questions is, how much would amps cost, and could anyone recommend any good amps for the B215XL? My second question is considering how much the amps are, is it worth is to pay $200 for 2 used B215XLs plus the cost of amps, or to buy 2 used B215D speakers for Around $380-400? I'm open to other speaker suggestions, but I'd like to try to stay under $400 if possible, so please don't recommend and 312A speakers or high end Behringer, Mackie, Peavy, JBL, RCF, etc.

I haven't tried the 215's but I do own the 215D's that I use for computer speakers. The only time I've ever actually used these for anything serious was for a friends birthday with maybe 50 people. There was a really really weird rattling noise in them that occured at higher volumes. I don't know if that was a one of or not but anyway. If you can, have a look at the M-Audio GSR-10. I know there is about an 8 page thread on them here but they will no doubt server you better than the Behringers.

If you feel you must go with the Behringers it's really up to you if you want powered or passive. I personally would go with the active versions but on the off chance you don't want to, QSC RMX 1450, Behringer EP2000 and the Crown XLS drivecore 1500 would all work well.

My only concern is would a 10 inch really be loud enough for a 100 person party? It very well could be, I just have no experience in this yet. Also, the GSR 12s are actually cheaper than the GSR 10s because the 10s were discontinued. I'm thinking about trying to pick up two used GSR 12s. Would these be good for a 100 person party playing hard dance, dubstep, electro house, eurodance, DnB, and Top 40 stuff?

As a side note, I can pick up two GSR 12s for $360. I'm thinking about just getting these quickly and selling them if they don't work well with my needs, but I would expect that they do.

Edit: Found a deal for $380 that includes two GSR 12s, 2 speaker stands, and 2 20ft XLR cables.

Thanks so much for pointing these out windspeed!
