Finally signed up for DJF2.0 after lurking for the past few months. A little background:
I currently DJ smaller events for <100 people (weddings, school reunions, pre-teen dances at my local community centre, etc.) and use a pair of Yorkville NX55P with a single LS200P sub. Even though the sub is underpowered when paired with these tops, I find it fills in the bottom end just enough for these types of events. I love the size & weight (55lbs), and I wall/corner load where possible, but it'd be nice to have access to more bass when needed. I'll be doing a wedding in October in a large room in an old, restored warehouse made of brick. Expected attendance is 130 and I have a feeling this is a party crowd. The venue has their own sound system, but it's two pairs of 15" (possibly 12") with no sub. Needless to say, I'll be bringing my own equipment, if only for peace of mind and familiarity with my own gear. Now, the dilemma...do I:
1) buy a matching sub? (used NX200P for $300 cdn)
2) sell my LS200P and get an NX720S? (used for $560, 78lbs)
3) rent an additional/bigger sub when necessary
The big caveat with option #2 is that the NX720S is in pretty rough shape cosmetically. Which brings me to my 2nd question:
How easy is it to clean up a sub that has scratches & marks all over the grille & ultrathane? If it's in rough shape cosmetically, it may have been treated poorly by the previous owner, meaning there may be unknown internal issues now or down the road.
Thanks in advance. Keep in mind that I'm not looking for earth-shattering bass. As mentioned, I'm content with the bottom end the LS200P currently provides, but would like more when doing those larger (100+ guests) events.
