    Puerto Rican & Dominican over here . I do House & HipHop though. My parties consists of bachata, merengue, salsa, reggaton, and mambo. But my passion is in house. I just mix spanish to get money for now.

    Mixing salsa isn't that hard as long as you can find the claves for the tempo. It is true that most salsa heads can do fine without it being mixed but in the club setting you gotta do your job lol.
    but its not that they dont mind it being mixed , its that they dont WANT it to be mixed

    your job is to know what they want

    in a latin night you can "get away with it" if you want, but to little if any benefit IMO because the criteria for beatmatching is only going to limit you song choices

    in an all salsa night you will piss people off and look clueless

    dont get me wrong, i love beat matching and sometimes do salsa mixes too, i even think that DJs who cant beatmatch are not real DJs.
    but there is LOT more to Djing than beat matching and salsa is one of those genres where people tend to feel that the song is fine as it is and does not need to be fucked with
