Looking for loud active monitors preferably 8 inchers. Need something loud, not necessarily "flat". Searched around but still cant decide, help please
Put this in general because it not really production, but move it if you insist![]()

To me "8" and loud" suggests Mackie HR824
If you put PA speakers like that in a room, you are well on your way to hearing damage. Also hope you have friendly neighbours or a lack of tbh. That said, if you want something that's beefy enough for a house should you need it, buy a good hifi amp and a pair of passive speakers. It will also sound better than cheap nasty plastic PA speakers.
Besides, 12 inch PA speakers and under generally go ear piercing with no bass.
You don't need loud for a house, you need reasonable volume and good quality.

studio monitors are what you want I think. You don't need loudness if you have a very accurate system. I think loudness is something we really think we need because when we turn things up a lot we are hearing the frequencies that are being hidden by the limitations of the system. With a flat system you aren't needing to compensate like that. As well as other benifits like your mixing (eqing) will be a lot better. Something to consider I think you want accuracy at home, and a full sounding PA for parties.
