had a listen mate and really enjoyed it, its looped over about 2 or 3 times in the car now and found some interesting new sounds each time. gonna post the link on my mates facebook page cos i know he will love it.
im loving my DVS setup, the only thing i want to add is a used cdj800 so i can have 3 deck mixing with my limited space on my desk. im a little bored of the basic transitions and i like to layer vocals and sound effects over the tracks, im not paying full price for one as long as its in good condition it will do me fine.. which DVS are you using currently? ive just bought that denon controller for serato(cant remember the name) and i love it. its basically turned my 1210s into fully functioning cdjs but with even more features
Thanks for the listen man - glad you enjoyed it enough to loop it over a couple of times. It really has some interesting mixing - I tried to be really creative in pumping beats, in cutting, and in extending the mixes farther beyond just intro/outro. I really try to squeeze every ounce out of two decks as possible using creativity in mixing and looping. Also, thanks for passing on to your friend - hope he likes it.
I'm using Traktor Scratch 2.0 with a Kontrol X1. I was like you, bored with normal transitions. I've found innovative ways to use my looping to take my mixing up a level in terms of creativity, but also in general quality. Pro tip for you: find your "1" beat that you want to come in on - set a 32 beat (8 bar) loop from that beat. Cue it up and throw it in time with the outgoing track. You'll never have to recue your track (which saves you plenty of time and worry), and you can beatmatch within the loop. So, whenever you come in you will be on the "1" (in most cases - some tracks will have a little 4 beat mini re-set) each time you start your mix. You can also pump your incoming track kind of "unofficially" before you start your mix - and in breakdowns as well. For example, in the breakdown before you will start your mix, start pumping your cued and looped incoming track, building to the drop coming out of the breakdown and then throw your mix live and let it run. Kill your loop. Now you've come in on the first beat coming out of the breakdown (instead of recueing, waiting 8 bars or 32 beats, and then coming in after the breakdown), after some creative cutting and pumping - and you've taken the mixing of that track to a level that you don't see other people doing very much. Listen to some of the mixes in my mix and you will see some great examples of this....probably in almost all of the mixes. It really adds to the flow and general groove of a mix. Give it a shot and let me know how it works for you.
Forgot to write back sorry. Great mix! was gonna rep you but I need to spread around a little it seems. Will do later![]()
Ha, no worries...I have to spread it around too. Thanks for listening!
