I need help with Yorkville LS800P sub. What's the proper/correct way to connect this sub with my system. Only 1 sub and no external crossover.

Should I connect the XLR out from the mixer into the LS800P Mono Blend input on the sub first via XLR splitter, and then out of the sub via XLR splitter into the Amp, and the speakers into the Amp?

Or is there another way?

I noticed that the X500 mixer has a 1/4 sub out.. Can I use that and connect into the LS800P input, and then out of the sub via 1/4 or XLR splitter into the amp.

I'll be using it with following equipment
Mixer: Denon X500
Speakers: EV Passive Speakers
Amp: Crown Macrotech 1200
Sub: 1 Yorkville LS800P

Thanks in advance.

Hi all,

One of my QSC KW12 (8 month old only done 6 EASY well travelled jobs) has a rattle. The other is fine but it sounds like a loose screw or a Blob of solder rattling around inside (only when being lifted and being moved from mounting pole to transport). It seems working fine but just want to check. Its certainly under warranty for another 6 years but its a LONG WAY from sales REP let alone repair place.

Iam just curious. We order a lot of Lighting effects etc from the USA that is sent here to Australia 90% of all gear is disassembled and re-assembled because cables and mirrors have moved and come loose in transit. Chauvet are notorious for the power transformer needing urgent tightening and these items are all from the factory sealed box. ITS ALL COOL I don't mind but this rattle in my speaker annoys me because its not $200 light.

All advice welcome

Hey guys, just after a bit of advice.
So, I can never pull my head around the Freq specs for speakers.
I look at the DXR15 and many people claim that when the "bass boost" switch is enabled, the bass is enhanced.

But when I see the specs on the website say the speaker freq range is - 49Hz - 20kHz I get confused.
The RCF15 mk III specs are 45 Hz ÷ 20 kHz

Does that mean, I will get a lower (and better) bass response from the RCF?

A little confused, because I am am looking to buy two tops for small gigs in small rooms under 100 people.

I was reading another thread here about house party speakers & this Fender Passport was mentioned.

Recently, I had asked about such a system in the mobile section & didn't get much response. I am interested in a system for a couple of different uses.
1) for small parties of 25 or 50 such as kids birthday parties of say 6 - 13 years old for example .... or any small party or speaking event etc.
2) to use for wedding ceremonies in small chapels or small outside ceremonies etc...
3) to rent out to people who aren't going to book a DJ because of small budget of say $100 for music for, again, kids birthday parties etc.

Personally, I would not mind setting a Fender product in front of a small crowd because most people who know anything about music or bands etc are familiar with the Fender name. So, I am looking for something that I can rent out or use for ceremonies in separate locations or quick/short outside events like a ceremony.
I have quite a few people who ask me to only play the reception because they are using a boom box or iPod for the ceremony etc. I have people very regularly that call me for kids birthday parties who obviously want music but only have a $100 or $150 budget. Heck, I can rent the system out for those events. Its small, compact & easy to operate & is just what I am looking for if its a reasonable, reliable system for such things.

Does anyone have any personal experience with this sort of system & specifically this one. It looks like the Passport comes in three models. The 150 , 300 & 500 watt systems. I think I might be more interested in the 300. Currently, my small ceremony system is a 250, so on the face, basically, I know where I am with that. But, I just wanted to get some opinions on this system or one similar to it.

When I looked over this system online, I didn't see any input jacks on the speakers. I see various outputs on the amp, but no input on the speakers...??? Are they wireless perhaps?

Also, the site didn't have much information about exactly what else is required to have this system up & running. I am guessing just an iPod, a laptop or even an iPhone with an app, a line from the device to the system's input & a mic if you need that.... and your done?

Rep for any relevant info :)

So guys I'm thinking of building a pair speakers in the next month or so, and was thinking about the crossover for them. I was thinking that if I used a passive crossover in the cab that just cut out the highs for the tweeter, let the mid driver play the rest of the range, and then use an active crossover to cut out the bottom and send the bottom sub when I have it. That would band pass the mids to go just to the mid drivers. My reasoning for thinking of this idea is if I have a smaller gig, and don't need a sub I could get some low end out of the cabs, but when I use a sub and the active cross over I wouldn't be driving my mid driver so hard, and it could in theory, sound better. Would this be worth looking into more?

This is still all in the air, and just idea, I haven't decided on which drivers to use and such yet.

I also have a question about speaker size and elevating them. So I first thought of building a simple dual 15 bass reflex cab, then I was thinking how would I elevate them. If anyone has a way of doing that I would gladly like to hear it. I wanted the dual 15 speaker set up so I could get some thump out of them, while I save to get my sub setup.
So I then thought about just a single 15, because I know you can stick those on stands easy, but then I was like I could make a dual 12inch cab about the same size as the single 15. and with the 12s I get 24inches of cone area over the 15 and I could wire them to a different impedance if I need to.

Oh I build car audio speaker boxes and such so I know abit about speaker wiring and box tuning, but I'm open to any suggestions. I also will be running them off an QSC 2450, and still working on picking an active crossover, I'm open for suggestions on that too.
Thanks guys.

I received my 4pro today and i was eager to try it out with my RCF 312's. I hooked it it up and noticed a problem or what i think is a problem. I have it connected from my Traktor S4 both left and right channels, then from my sub to the 312's. The problem is that when i have both channels connected the bass is very low on the sub, but as soon as I disconnect one channel (doesn't matter which) the bass sounds great and loud!

Then I decided to try something else, I connected both channels again and panned from left to right on my mixer and when only one side is playing (again doesn't matter if its the left or right) the bass sounds great but when I pan it to the middle the bass fades out again! Idk if its supposed to do that? I have the volume control on the sub really low because the family is asleep but tomorrow I'm going to see if it still does this on high volume levels but I don't know, something isn't right here. Just wondering if i should be concerned or if this how the sub is supposed to act. Any input from other owners of the 4pro?

Greetings All,
I'm Matt, new member. I've been doing sound for about 12 years and dj a bit. I specialize in systems with lots of BASS. I happened across an article on beatport:
http://news.beatport.com/blog/2012/1...ms-in-america/
On that list I've only been to one of the venues: #7 Monarch. I love the club and I'm very happy that they invested in good sound. I feel they have raised the bar in terms of quality in the minds of many here in the SF Bay.

However the other day I went to The Independent also here in SF; there they have an EV system with Lab Grupen amps and a Lake processor and it is in a whole other world compared to Monarch. This single room strictly music venue has 3 large narrow angled trapezoidal tops per side and an unknown number of subs under the stage. I saw a live band there and was just blown away. I've never heard a DJ play there but I know that Roni Size performed there a few weeks later, Sadly I missed it.

You may be asking: "Why is he bringing this up?" in fact I asked myself the same question just now lol. But I think this may bring up a greater point. The Beatport article didn't specify venues for electronic music but all the venues chosen clearly had that as their main format. Dj culture has really come into the main stream and is a staple for many music venues in the all over the world. But I think that, in the United States, DJ centric clubs are behind the curve on high end sound systems in comparison to the best band venues and clubs abroad. This Beatport article and my recent experience at the Independent have made that apparent to me.

Anyway... I guess I'm saying we should pressure promoters and clubs to step it up.

See you guys around, great forum btw.

I will be providing sound for a large Relay for Life event and I need some help on equipment needs and placement. This is a charity event to raise money for cancer, and participants will be walking around a track. There will be approximately 300 people in attendance. I don't need rock concert quality sound, but I do need the PA to be heard across the track for walkers and booths.

Here is a picture of the layout. As you can see it is a pretty large area to cover.

Here is a picture of last years sound setup. We will be using the same flatbed trailers for equipment.
It looks like they used three speaker a side last year clustered on each side of the flatbed. Anyone know exactly what speakers they are using?

What would be your ideal setup for this venue? How many speakers to adequately cover the area? Keep in mind that it does not/cannot be super loud because the track is near a residential neighborhood. The PA does need to be audible though. If weather is poor, does that change setup (having to have all equipment on the flatbed)? Where is the best possible location for subs and tops?

I am not listing the equipment I have to use because I believe we can get most anything short of a complete line-array.

Thanks!
