My S4's been out for a while now and there's been a ton of newer controllers that have been released. I wonder what people think of their newer controllers now that they've had at least 6-12 months with them...

Anyone want to give some insight? I'm thinking:

* Controller: S4
* How long I've owned it: >12 months
* Likes: Does everything I want: Has tight performing jogs, sampling, is programmable, and compact.
* Dislikes: Jog wheels are small. Only controls 2 FX units even though TP/TSP has four. TSP upgrade kit is required for DVS engine (should be free).

So I tried to back up all my music on a different hard drive and near the end I got stuck at this one song. After two more tries and getting stuck at the same place I went to see the properties of the file and realized that it was one of my few WAV tracks. I tried deleting it and I couldn't delete it, it just got stuck. I downloaded a program called fileASSASIN and tried deleting it using that and had no luck. I terminated all programs such as iTunes, music player, etc and tried again and still no luck. I even booted in safe mode and tried deleting it that way but still it didn't work. Can anyone help me out? I'm stumped! If it helps, I'm running Windows 8 64-bit OS.

Edit: When I went to check out the track I realized it was a 39.5MB WAV file but I can't even open up its properties. Surprisingly when I open the file, iTunes opens right up and the song starts playing.

Hey guys,
im still looking into which controller i'd like to purchase, and I thought for a while the Numark Ns6 would be my best bet. But being a software dj, I usually use traktor and have really enjoyed it. I used a friend's s2 and thought it was good. I know the Ns6 is mainly for serato, so now im trying to decide if I should stick with traktor or try serato, because it seems like I could pick up traktor relatively easily.

So my choices are:
Numark Ns6
Numark 4trak
or the pioneer
ddj-s1

Any other recommendations are welcome.

Also do you think used controllers are safe to buy off ebay?

I dont really use effects, maybe a splattering of delay, echo out and perhaps some reverb, so I wont be missing Traktor effects.

I have used Serato before and do like the interface and flow.

I use my S4 with 1 turntable via DVS, and love it, but I have more and more gigs wanting video and video mixing does give a bit of WOW factor, in my opinion.

My question is regarding the platters. Does anyone have some experience with scratching on the NS7?

Do you think Traktor 3.0 will introduce video playback? I mean when it comes to pure audio, Traktor has to be the most powerful software out there. But every other major DJ software platform supports video playback. Do you think NI sees this as a weakness to address in Traktor 3.0 (its too big of a feature for a 2.XXX)? And if they decide to address it, do you think it will be built in or as an added plugin or a feature linked to a new piece of hardware ala F1/Remix Decks?

And so I tried the two other mappings, but I had the same exact issues. Where can I find a mapping that will work? I'm really confused about this..

Hi guys,

Am using a Numark Mixtrack Pro II.

When i have 'scratch' turned on the mixtrack is fine, it scratches as it should do.

When i have scratch turned off, it does nothing. I can't slow or speed up the tune like you can with a vinyl or like i can in serato.

This is really beginning to annoy me!

Also, when the track is stopped and scratch is turned off, if i turn the wheel once, it skips through almost the whole track.

Is this something to do with the mapping? I have a feeling it is but i'm not sure how to map it. Seems like the scratch on button is mapped but the pitch bend when it's off isn't.

Going Fully Digital?

Hey all,

Just looking for a little advice really. I currently have 1210s, cdj 1000s and a xone 22. The techs have been hidden away under the bed for about 3 years now. I also never seem to use the cdjs as really hate burning cds and how unforgiving cds are for organisation of my tunes once I have burned them. I also still miss being able to buy then play vinyl whenever I want.

I was thinking the best solution for me would be to sell the cdjs and mixer then buy a Pioneer DJM-T1 and using it with my 1210s. This would mean i can organise my music however I want, upgrade my mixer, use vinyl hassle free while gaining all the benefits of DVS and hopefully get the passion back to practice again.

The only thing that has stopped me in the past is wanting to use what is most convenient when I play parties or if I got a gig which has always seemed like cds are the obvious choice in terms of ease. I worry that if I got the t1 it would be an issue as I would either have to still burn cds to play anywhere but home or take my mixer with me. Would it therefore be worth buying a separate Traktor interface for playing out?

Sorry for wall of text but just wondered what people thought and if anyone else had thought along these lines?

So, after trying a bunch of different things, it looks like my NS6 USB port is no longer functioning. It is wiggling a bit so I'm assuming that it needs to be re-soldered. Unfortunately for me, the 1 year warranty ran out in February.

I called Numark and they gave me some service centers to where I could ship it to. If I go that route, it's going to be quite expensive.

I'm sure I can fix it myself but have never opened this thing before.

Anyone here who has opened up an NS6? If so, is this procedure do-able or should I leave it to the experts?

Hi everyone. Before I ask, thank you for what ever help you can offer.

Ok, first of all. I don't understand anything Macintosh, so bare that in mind when you answer. My ex girlfriend made me get a Mac-Book to use Traktor on and I'm a Windows Licker at heart so, bare that in mind. Here's my question.

I play A LOT of genres. I like to mix them all up together. I load my song list from an external hard drive and have it then kind of set into different genres and sub genre play lists. (House, Techno, Trance etc)

I'm on about 3000 songs at the momment with only House, Trance, Techno and a generic club genred play list made available. However, on the external hard drive I have Drum & Bass, Hip-Hop, Glitch, Electro, all these other genres I really want to get mapped and throw in there also. Problem is, if I do, it'll take up WAY too much room.
I was wondering. Is there a way I can kind of, load them in so it ONLY loads that specific, folder? Like a saved play list, so rather than reading the whole collection it only reads the specific ones I tell it to at any one time and if there is is there a way to load them into the program whilst it is running? The situation I'm trying to create is as follows:

I want it to read the total collection as only say, my House music or Techno or Trance, so it saves computer space.
However, in the middle of a set, I want to be able to load say, an electro one ON TOP of it, with out it stopping etc. So I can say "ok I want a House track here, a Trance track there" etc etc, but with out it crashing because it has to read like 70000 files at one time.

Any ideas? Thanks all. I appreciate any help.
