I was using serato yesterday (luckily not at a gig, just practicing), and the left deck just stopped. I thought the laser on my CDJ went out, so I swapped my backup deck in, same issue. The record was slightly moving on serato, it wasn't frozen, but the music was stopped. I tried several songs, different decks, nothing..
I checked all connections, then shut down everything for the night. The next day, everything was working again.. Anyone have this problem and figure out the solution? Thanks guys

what is a good system to find some nice fresh original stuff. there is so much its hard to narrow it down and find stuff that sounds different.

I don't mind putting in a lot of work but i feel like there has to be a better way than just clicking on random songs. If it makes a difference I'm into house music, progressive house and electronica.

Thanks!

O.K., so my sister is getting married Feb 5th ( I think it is a Thurs, WTF). I'm a mobile dj but I don't want to cart my equipment from Michigan to Denver for obvious reasons, one being that its in FEB......big snow!

Anyway, can I get a quote from someone or anyone to dj this reception? Here's the details.

150 people tops
I don't know the venue yet, but a decent hall somewhere.
5 hours
Need basic lights
Need tons (mostly Christian music............lame to me, but my sis is a crazy Christian) of "clean" music.

Here's the catch(s):
Dry wedding......except for me and maybe my bro in law (current, not future). I'm drinking, FTS.
Like I said, crazy Christians.
and of coarse: low budget.....not too low, but help a brother out!

Please Let me know if you're interested and give me an estimate (not a quote, due to lack of details). I really don't want to do this......I'd have to rent speakers or a trailer (to haul mine) and drive them 1200+ miles to get there. Plus, I don't even want to go to a dry wedding on a thursday!!!!!WTF???

Thanx in advance.

Bought a used sewing machine this week and taught myself to sew on scrap fabric. Picked up 2 yards of spandex fabric. Cut the triangle patterns (4'x4'x3'). Folded over the edges and stitched up. Cut several small elastic strips and folded into "U" hooks and stitched on to the corners. Cost for fabric, thread, & elastic was about $30 total (that's for 2 scrims).

Over all I'm happy with the outcome. Plus Ive learned how to sew now, so I can redo my tables skirts for cheap. A white set is next.

Also, I'm on the beach in NC right now... AHHHH! EARL! AHHHH! :argh:

Okay well, i was just testing my new mixer out. And i noticed this delay and its very noticable. the cue in my headphones, is certainly off what is actually playing.

For example, let's say i was playing a song on one channel, and that is being played out loud, and when it's cued in my headphones, there's a big delay, and its the same song.
I can hear it, it seems like what is being cued in headphones is a bit ahead of what is being played. this certainly threw me off in my beatmatching.

Could it be because of my output? Because I'm not running monitors, im simply running it through my laptop's rec out and using speakers, hooked up to my laptop.
I think this may be the reason why, and if so, is it my soundcard?
Because my other pc which recently broke down, played it with absolutly no lag.
Even though i had a different mixer.

so what do you think the problem is? Mixer? soundcard? mixer output?

Hey guys,

I'm trying to get a pair of 18" subwoofer cabinets working for a party this weekend but I've run into an issue. It turns out that the receptacles that the subs use are 4-pole speakon. I bought some speakon cables and they are only 2-pole. Now I'm going to be running out of a bridged mono amplifier since theses are just subs. I also want to mention that the connection to the amp is banana so its a banana-2-pole speakon cable I have. The issue is the 2-pole cables only touch the poles which are connected to the adjacent 4-pole speakon connector to run in parallel and NOT the speaker.

The question I is would it be alright to solder the speaker wires to the connecting poles AND also have it connect to the adjacent receptacle for parallel operation? This of course would only be a temporary fix for the weekend. I mean, it is essentially doing the same thing if I buy a 4-pole cable right? I'm not missing something am I?

btw, the reason for this is nobody stocks 4-pole cables on hand. It's all special order.

Also, I may be wrong but shouldn't a 2-pole wire at MINIMUM connect to the speaker and not the adjacent receptacle?! I think my buddy wired the cabinet wrong.

I mean I hear the Think break but if you play that break at the speed of that song for example to get the high pitched "uh oh" or whatever, the rest of the break severely lacks low end. As far as I figure those songs just have layered breaks or something, but I can't tell exactly what.

Or, maybe it's the breakbeat sample with a drum machine type of instrument that doesn't change the pitch. Or it's an 808 kick type of thing. But then what about the snare?

Etc. Any info you guys can give me would be great. I'm working on mid tempo breaks stuff and I can't get that sound just right yet. Thanks!
