After two tasteful winter soirees (one more dry than the other!), Harmonic prepares for their BASK season opener on Sunday, June 24 with a dynamic of producers, vocalists, and music sleazeoids. Atop the bill for this summer celebration at The Standard rooftop is AMBIVALENT of Minus fame, with LA’s own BIG BULLY prompting booties to shake early on.

Ambivalent by name, ambivalent by nature, Kevin McHugh insists we shouldn’t read too much into his ideas, but as long as he continues making such bold musical statements that stimulate the instinct and intellect in equal measures, he’ll just have to get used to the attention. Ambivalent’s idiosyncratic sound is a precarious balancing act that manages to infuse stripped down, funked up minimal techno with a distinct sense of purpose, often defined by a pearl of an idea around which his skeletal grooves revolve. Twisted vocals always pepper his tracks, invoking a sort of comedic property for the listener. A testament to this was his original “R U OK”, which was a global club sensation, destroying dance floors wherever it was dropped. After a slew of other releases on M_nus, Plus 8, Clink, and Klickhaus, and tours of festivals around the world, Ambivalent has distinguished himself as one of the foremost authorities in current day minimal.

Born in the middle of some back country desert town on route 66 between LA and Vegas, Dawson Baca aka Big Bully launched immediately into a music career by time he was under 30 minutes old. Over the years, Big Bully has fine tuned his vocal & production pitches, crossing lines of techno and house. Dawson has collaborated with the who's who of techno/house and produced/remixed with releases on such esteemed labels as Get Physical, Culprit, Circus Company, Spectral Sound, Simple, Mo's Ferry, Tic Tac Toe,Tuning Spork, Adjunct and Vakant just to name a few. The latest track with Audiofly ft. Big Bully - I'll Tell Ya on Get Physical sits at the front of dj charts and top tracks in Beatport. Stay tuned for an upcoming release w/Fur Coat coming out on Crosstown Rebels this summer.

Setting the tone for this fine day will be Music Savages founders and head honchos, Jake Patrick and CAMERON ANGELI. This event will be the first installment of six for the BASK series at The Standard this Summer. Early arrival before 2pm warrants a discounted admission with RSVP to rsvpharmonic@gmail.com, as well as an opportunity to stake your claim to prime party real estate on the rooftop. Summer is coming, and so is the Harmonic heat! Be there and get involved!
