Dumb DMX question

I'm assuming this is not the case but do my dmx lights have to be physically set up in order of increasing channel addresses or will the dmx signal find the correct address regardless of how they are set up physically?

It should find the channel just fine regardless of physical setup.

[Synaxis]

The order of the lights does not matter. The first light can have a DMX channel of 300, and the second can have a DMX channel of 56.

Fixtures receive information from all DMX channels, but only "listen" on the channels to which they are set.

just ensure to terminate your last fixture. or else things could get wonky ;)
