We all (well, most of us) hate hating...

..especially when there are songs that are exceptions to our personal prejudices against an artist based on our past experiences with their works.

A lot of times, when you make your mind up about an artist, you are often shocked that you actually like a song they dropped. But, you tend to hang on to that hate unless there are multiple songs that force you to change your mind. You might want that hate, or feed on it, like it's the hate itself that makes you feel superior to the people that like the artist. Rest assured, you probably are a much better person then all those ponk-asses. On the other hand, maybe, you're the dumbass cuz you are straining your neck muscles trying to keep your head from bobbin' cuz you got some kind of baggage with the artist's 'image'.

I think that's the first 50 Cent song I ever heard. I remember hearing Tim Westwood talking about him on his show about 10 or 11 years ago, saying he was gonna be the next big thing in rap, then he played that song and I really liked it.

I think Lil Wayne is a dribbling idiot - even on this track - but I like the sample. To be honest, I would like it just the same if it was instrumental - probably even more, lol - so perhaps it's a bad example.

But I never "hang on to the hate". Every song is judged on its own merits for me, but obviously if I've hated an artist's work I'm far less likely to check for any of their newer stuff. For instance, there may potentially be a track I'd like on a Soulja Boy LP, but I haven't listened to one to find out solely because the tracks I have heard, I dislike so much. Ain't no such thing as a guilty pleasure in music to me though. I hate snobbery in music and I'm far too old to try and pretend to be cool by saying I like this and that. I don't even know what is currently considered "cool" anyway, haha.
