Hi, first post on new account. I'm trying to mimic 90s style of scratching because I think it sounds really awesome and thats the style Im trying to achieve. I don't think Im as good as I should be at 2 years.

I think my timing could be better, I like advice.

I think the biggest problem with it is the timing. The cuts do sound stiff in a few spots, but a lot of the time it's way off beat.

I think its great. Keep practicing, over time you'll develop a better understanding of timing and it'll all fall into place.

Ok, any tips on how to scratch on beat?

U got the right idea. It seems like you are thinking too much on how to lay down the cut and executing it. I'm guilty of that sometimes. I'll concentrate too much on technique that I'll go off beat but If I just keep my mind clear and ride the beat, I can come off clean.

Try baby scratching. I'm serious. You're more advanced than baby scratches, but just do baby scratches to practice rhythm.

Also try scratch camp (http://www.djforums.com/forums/showthread.php?8252-Scratch-Camp). Just a suggestion.

Ok, any tips on how to scratch on beat? lower the sample a little so you can hear the beat more clearly so when your scratching your not drowning out the beat.
