It doesn't have any effects, it's a controller. The included software, Traktor Pro 2, does have effects.

Wow I'm surprised our surplus of spelling nazis aren't around here yet! lol

But, to answer the question yes Traktor Pro 2 does have plenty of effects.

I resisted with all my being...

There are lots of controllers available.

Another choice is the Denon MC6000.

What do you want to do with said controller (this is not a trick question)?

Sweet... jesus... the pain... of being... an English... major...

Seriously though, yeah, do some research. Then buy Traktor, because its effects are bananas awesome.

I'm no english major, but it just hurts the eyes to even read this stuff sometimes.

^ This. Effects are based more on the software then the controller. If you have traktor you can use a number of controllers to trigger the effects as you can MIDI map. Id say choose a controller based on what is comfortable for you and what you like, not based on what it comes with. Might be more expensive but i think you would get more enjoyment out of it. +1 for anything made by Denon, solid build quality.
