Since it seems that the Dubstep forum is the place to talk about UK Garage(at least the 2-step variety), I just wanted your thoughts on what you think of it as a genre. I can kinda see why 2-step garage belongs in this forum as dubstep was what garage 2-step would eventually become(first becoming grime, and then dubstep).

I think that UK Garage has more or less become an umbrella term for both house breaks(Speed Garage) and Garage 2-step, and I, like other DJs that spin UKG, tend to mix it up with both these days, though when I started out back in 99, I spun almost exclusively speed garage due to the fact that house(or most styles of 4X4 dance music) was easier for me to beatmatch as a beginner than 2-step. These days Garage is second fiddle to Drum N Bass for me(hopefully you guys don't crucify me for saying that in this forum). I've also noticed that the UK has been on a Garage revival lately, which hasn't hit stateside yet, but I'm working on that ;) .

Garage was great back in the 90's! Def its best time was between 1996-1999. My record collection between this time is ridiculous. Ill try and up a picture at some point of my vinyl.

But I will leave you all with these just you remind ourselves how good garage will never be again

That is the time where pretty much all of my garage records are from.

Garage does seem to be making a comeback in the UK, and I hope it continues!

Really not a fan of full vocal stuff though, I think the cheesy RnB style vocals in 90% of old garage tracks ruin them completely.

This is just incredible though, recent release from Dark Sky:

^^^Nice! gritty and dark, but still has the groove I tend to associate with UKG.

Has to be said, I am a bit of a sucker for 'cheesy' RnB vocals. One of my fave jams of the last few months:

Right after all this UKG talk yesterday I decided to try and make a garage track.... I have finished it in less than 24 hour's. Not after criticism but welcome to give it anyway. I will post it up in a min just bouncing it out now.

If I were to make UKG now this is the kinda of sound I would probably be doing. link to follow

Nice. Digging the oldschool vibe there bruv. tried to add to your rep but it won't let me. I'll give you props via my soundcloud.

Also, talking about UKG will be the only time you ever catch me in the Dubstep forum.
