I am looking for a mixer with effects. I was thinking of getting a denon hc-1000 for effects and a $5-600 mixer. Maybe a used Rane. Or sell my SL2 go over my budget a little and pitch up the Rane 62?
I would not mind saving a lil cash but I also want a quality mixer. I have a Numark M2 and it is not upto cutting very well. So I have two options. So if any of you can help that would be great. THX.

If it was me, I wouldn't sell the SL2 and get the Rane 62 because...

-you can't always bring the 62 every time you have a gig
-price wise, you can get a better mixer and keep your SL2

Quality mixers you might want to consider with the same price range as the Rane 62 are:

You'll be way much happier with any of these.

-Pioneer DJM850
-A&H DB2
-Denon DNX1600/1700

Don't get a Traktor mixer if you're using SSL. Instead of the DJM 850, get the 800. Instead of the A&H DB2 there is the A&H Xone 92.

If he wants a mixer with FX that costs around 5-6 bills the x600 is his best bet.. and it doesn't matter that it's a traktor cert mixer, he has his SL2.

There are no good Serato compatible alternatives to the Rane 62 in the range of $600 + $(sold SL2) + $.. so he might as well keep the box and stay in his range. Or, keep the box and go out of the budget a bit to a denon x1600, which is the next best <1k mixer with fx.

In range: Denon X600 w/ SL2
Step up: Denon X1600 w/ SL2

Thanks for the great suggestions. I already have sl2 and it being a traktor mixer I don't think it would matter. I do like that the denon x600 is midi mappable, but does that only work with traktor? How is the fader on the x600? Some one also mention the A &H DB2. I am not familiar with that brands mixers but I do know their sound boards. I saw that there mixer has a huge FX library. Does anyone know about the fader for cutting? I would still need the denon HC1000 or divers for cue points tho?

Have you looked into a Pioneer DJM-400?

The DB2 is awesome, I have it, but the crossfader sucks for cuts or scratching, not to mention its well over double the cost of the x600. The x600 has phenomenal faders, both channel and cross. The cross (flex fader) is especially good for scratching, fully tension adjustable.

Def going to stop GC and see if they have the Denon x600 instock.
I love the look of the DB2. Are the faders replaceable?
