If these questions are answered in other threads please let me know, I wasn't able to find anything.
Right now my problem is with some records, the bass sounds a bit distorted on only one of the stereo channels. Anyone know what the problem could be?
More generally, how do you go about testing if a stylus is damaged or worn? Apart from the obvious answer that you can do it by ear, is there some other way to test frequency response? Also apart from frequency response, is there some way to tell how bad a used stylus is for records?
I've got an Ortofon Pro-S stylus, attached to the normal headshell with the 4 colored wires via a OM cartridge, not the long pointy ortofon one that screws direct to the tone-arm. If this makes a difference.
