Hi Everyone

Just joined up and looking a bit of advice i just bought this amp and when i opened it to clean it out most of the internal caps were weak and have come away is it worth fixing? is it a big job? because if i leave it in to the repair shop i will have to pay £50 to just get it looked over.

Many Thanks

You could ask us, but going straight to the source might get you a better answer:

I think it'll cost more to fix than it's worth.

Hi, sorry this is a bit late. I bought a USA900 last year for £100 (fully working) so I would guess the going rate for a USA1310 is around £150.

It may be prohibitively expensive for you to pay someone to fix it, but if you're comfortable with soldering you could have a go yourself, or maybe you have a friend who could do it.

You can download a circuit diagram from the QSC web site to check the component values. Technical support from QSC is excellent, by the way, but they're obviously not able to teach you electronics if it doesn't work once you've refitted the components.

The QSC USA series are simple, reliable amplifiers. One of my clients has two in an installation that have been faultless for over 12 years. The chances are that there's nothing wrong with yours other than the solder joints on the PCB having deteriorated. It would probably be worth resoldering everything.

If all this is beyond you, sell it on ebay for spares or repair. I hate the idea of binning something that someone else could use.
