Those of you who heard Soulful Melodies Vol 3 (http://www.domeshotsandfatlaces.com/2011/04/hamza-21-soulful-melodies-vol-3.html) will recognize this remix to Jermaine Jackson's "Don't Take It Personal (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A4I4bXFaV98)". I always thought this was one of my better remixes featured within the series so I decided rework the remix and release it to the world.

This new remix still features a sample of Bald Head Slick's (Guru) "The Anthem (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ezSi9ZsRe8k)" but I added different drums and also made "Drums Remix" without the Anthem sample. Enjoy.

I'm sure you don't mind a little constructive criticism since you put this out here...
The drums are too loud, it's hard to make out the vocals.
The beat was frankly way too simple.
I kept waiting for something to happen, but the beat kinda just drags on overpowering the entire piece.
I'd tone it way down on the beat, make it more compressed but subtle and add some fills or stabs or something.
I'd also change the beat at the end or something, 5:25 is a long song for such a basic beat.
People are way too ADD to listen to 5 minutes of that.

I hear what you're saying but it sounds the way it I want it to sound. I guess you never heard the original blend from my mix. it is simple but it's supposed to be...it's a blend, two songs combined into one. It's not a reconstructed song, there is no acapella for song I worked with what I had, the original track.

If you listen to it you will hear the beat pattern on the chorus and snares are different than beat for verses and bridge. I guess you were expecting something else since I titled it a remix but it's not much different than my original blend and it sounds exactly how I want it to sound.

Yeah, either way it sounds to drum heavy. I hear you, and yeah, I thought it was a remix, but regardless, it all boils down to how it sounds, drums are clipping.
You could run it thru a compressor and that might bring up the vocals and OG instruments, but if you redid it with a different instrumental, it would probably sound better.

After listening to video I can see you point but the vid is 128kbps compressed from the original 320 mp3 so some of the highs are missing resulting the vocals sitting a little lower in volume. As well when you convert to lower mp3 it raises the volume of the overall sound. In the original wav/mp3 file the drums aren't clipping but it is "drum heavy" but it's supposed to be that's how I wanted to sound...a drum heavy boom bap sytled blend of the Anthem with Jermaine's original song. I could have lower volume on snares of the original therefore allowing room to raise the vocal higher but that's what I wanted.
