That's awesome. Did your friend actually come up with the concept as well or did he just do the DJing aspect of it?

Here's a quote from Jon: -

A few months ago I told a few people/hinted on the shoutbox that I was doing some work on a TV advert. I've just found out that the finished advert has now been uploaded online and wil be on TV soon, and a game on the brand's Facebook page is going to be playable in the next few days. The project was a lot of fun to work on and it was a great learning experience for me. I was given the brief of having two copies of 'Let's Get It On' with one record slow, the other fast and mixing them together in a funny way. With regular feedback from the directors, I composed and performed the routine and came up with the 'we're all sensitive' wordplay sections etc. I basically made a customs routine using the original, instrumental and acapella versions of the Marvin Gaye track. It's not a technical battle routine as such, and is primarily intended to make people laugh.

Nice one gents, glad you liked it!

Jon's done really well with his DJing career in the last couple of years. He was part of a collab mix that I was involved with in 2009 and he was a pretty decent DJ then, but not great. In the last 2 years he's really put the practice in and last year he made it to the UK DMC finals and he did really well in the DMC online competition too, coming 9th in the world. He's DJed with DJ Craze and several other well known names and next week he's supporting Qbert. He'd absolutely smash me on the turntables now.

Here's a video of him warming up with Craze: -

kind of a reminder how much most of us club djs ultimately suck when it comes to actually manipulating discs...

Ooh look guys I can match two records in 20 seconds with my headphones and concise beats! I'm great at this! "Iiiiiiiiiiiiii'm feeleeeeeeellliinnnnn ssooo" ah fuck it I quit.

You are so right. I had a guy called DJ Infinitee (turntablist) from San Francisco play with me a few weeks back. He made me feel like a complete amateur!

Nice. It's good to see an advert with actual djing in it as opposed to some model fake scratching completely out of sync with what's actually happening in the music.

Massive kudos to your friend.

Thanks for all the positive feedback everyone!

I've recently entered the DMC Online DJ Competiton with a scratching set inspired by non other than WWE legend The Rock! The first round of the competition is partially decided by public voting and I'd love your support! All you have to do to vote is click the link then click on vote to the right of the video using your facebook or twitter account. It only takes a few seconds and would really help me out! http://www.talenthouse.com/creativeinvites/preview/a33973073ec685ca728b9a46827ffad2/480

Epic brilliance. Only thing better would have been to have a female hand pull away the guy's hand at the end...

That ad is pure brilliance and wouldn't have nearly as good without the real DJ work to execute it.

Loved the ad, it was clever and funny.

Just a quick tip for all the club/dance guys who are pining for some scratching abilities: Just start doing it. You'll sound like absolute shit at first, but if you practice, you can get the hang of it. I was strictly a mixing DJ for over a decade before I started scratching six months ago. I'm nowhere near as good as the guys in the videos, but when I scratch in front of crowds with a rock band, nobody runs away screaming with blood pouring out of their ears, so I figure that's a somewhat encouraging sign.
