Synergy CD2000

I brought these second hand about 11 years ago, my first CD decks.

Display gives only track number, track time- played/elapsed, and frame. No bpm readout or such like, made them great for learning to beatmatch- there's a lot to be said for learning on something like this or vinyl.

The cue button is also just a 'live pause' - they have no internal memory so you couldn't jump back to a cue point, just pause/unpause!

And forget about touching the cd while spinning (as everyone asked me whilst using them!)

They are made of metal however, unlike a lot of todays cd decks!

:D

I've never seen those before, but Yamaha made something rather similiar:

I remember trying it out and it was absolute shit.

Those do look interesting tho.

Wow that Yamaha almost looks a bit hi tech- Filter, loop, and scratch pad! Any idea when they were released?

There was a mixer that had a CD slot just like that way back in the 90s. I just forgot which brand and model.

Mine still work ok, although the lense on one of them is on the blink which causes the odd skip- not helpful when mixing!

An yeah I'd love to see that Yamaha in use!

How about these? Technics SLP-1300. I still have my pair I bought back in 1991. If I recall correctly they were huge money...I believe I had payed about $1300 each for my pair. Best of all, both still work fine after all these years.

$1300 was a lot of money then. Nice to see someone still have them.

Too right!

Makes the £120 per deck I paid for those Synergy players in my original post seem a bargain! :D

Then? It still is!

According to an inflation calculator, $1300 in 1991 dollars was over $2000 in 2010...
