Tough question. If you're in the US and plan to run them legally, they're about the best option. But then, if you run them legally, they'll be rendered so ineffective that it's not worth it, IMO.

I think it looks pretty good, just have to consider where you will be running it, and if it will provide a bright enough effect that you planned for.

I am curious too, what are they selling for?

According to http://google.com, anywhere from $200 to $700, depending on which of the Scorpion fixtures you're buying.

wha? what legal problems could there be with the scorpion? modifing it would void the warrenty, but other than that, i see no issue with legal matters. can someone clue me in?

Just because class 3A and 3R are variance free doesn't mean you can them however you like. You still have to abide by FDA and any state/local rules. One of the FDA rules is that any Class 1 or higher beams must be at least 3 meters above whatever surface the audience is standing on. Last I checked, my local regulatory agency, the ARRA (Arizona Radiation Regulatory Agency) extended that distance to 6 meters (almost 20 feet!). Either way, that alone is a show stopper for anything below class 3B.

I had a couple of green Chauvet Laser Links and ended up selling them after learning about all the legal issues. If you're running the stuff at house parties only, no big deal.

Look into FDA CFR 1040 (and good luck!)
