Question:

I currently mount my 42inch LED on a regular speaker stand and lately I've been wanting it to go higher.

Would a regular lighting stand, i-beam setup, be able to accommodate what I want? I KNOW a box truss would be the ideal set-up but I can't really spend it right now (nor really store it/transport it).

Would something like the below picture be able to take care of what I want? Thanks!

A 42" TV in the center of an I-beam truss? I don't think that would work.

Besides, the majority of lighting stands are about the same size as speaker stands, unless otherwise stated.

Why not just save up for box truss?

Perhaps triangle truss would work, and I'm sure it's cheaper.

I mean if the tv is less than 200 pounds and you have no other lights on if it is 200 pounds than it should work, but I would not really trust it still.

Save for 300mm tri truss. Get 1.5m sections if you are stuck for space.

No. I don't even trust my lights on those things anymore.

How about an ST-132 Global stand? Goes up 13 feet.

You could go with Trilites 109-V truss. This triangular truss is only 9" per side and has one side open so sections can stack together. It also uses 1" rails. You could pick up two 5' sections. When together, a 10' span is rated for 454# with a safety factor of 3.
