Sigma - 80s Funk Mix

I entered a little mixing battle against some guys from DJ Forums (the old site) for a bit of fun and this is my entry. It's 80s funk/R&B, recorded live using a combination of Serato and vinyl.

BTW, if you mean literally the first 2 tracks, I put those in there cos one of the rules was "no hip-hop" and I thought I'd break that slightly by using the Foxy Brown track (which samples the René & Angela track) and then having Eazy-E come in and say "bitch shut the fuck up, get the fuck out of here" just as she's starting to rap, lol.

I had to sell it. I ran into some money problems so everything had to go. I didn't really want to sell but I was given an offer for everything I just couldn't pass up. There was enough in there for me to get a small setup but ended up taking a vacation instead, but im starting to save up and hopefully build up what I had once again.

I dunno how long it'll last on YouTube though. I've received copyright infringement notices aplenty, lol, including some for James Brown tracks when there aren't any of his tracks in this mix.

I like your sets Sigma; you've got a spicy way of inserting just the right amount of scratches to give it flavor. From the ones I've heard, you don't seem to flood your mixes with a flare-fest of "ahhh's" and "fressssh's".

Thanks man. I try and get the balance right, although I tend to do less technical stuff in live one-take mixes (like this one) cos if I mess it up it means starting again, haha.

I've got a new mix made that I'm just waiting to post. It's airing on a radio station on Thursday night, so I can't post it until after then. Hopefully you'll like that one too, cos this 80s funk one is pretty old (in terms of when I posted it) - I only bumped the thread because I've been slowly putting my mixes on YouTube.
