Hey guys,

For those of you who provide lighting for festivals and the like, what are you using in terms of blinders? I've been trying to find some high quality DMX controllable lights. I've found these (http://www.chromlech.fr/pages/en/products/jarag-5-range.php?lang=FR) which are pretty much what I am looking for to replace just a metal shell with 4 PAR36 bulbs running off a dimmer. However I have never heard of the company, so any ideas for a decent DMX controlled audience blinder?

Thanks for your help :)

A bunch of different companies make them. They run between $200-$450 for good quality ones.
They also come in LED now which are actually a hell of a lot brighter than you'd first think if you get good ones.

I see those all the time at concerts. (not a lighting guy :P)

I was just wondering if there was a mainstream version of those I mentioned... Otherwise I'll stick with the above..

I've seen things similar to the Jarags but not very often. You can't really do much with them because of the way they're built so not many people use em.

As the photos show above, those are the blinders used for larger, professional festivals. However, for a smaller venue, a row of ungelled source 4s will work wonders. It helps to flip the lens too, that way the beam of light is spread out, instead of narrowed.

Mystic is right on with what you need. I'm currently using the Chauvet Impulse 648. Uses 648 white high power SMD LED's. It's from Chauvet's pro line so it has 3 and 5 pin DMX as well as locking power cables and power linking. I generally set them up first to use them as work lights and they function as strobes/blinders during the show. I recommend at least one for every 250 people and it probably wont be your best long throw option.
