Something like this would be a good start

Start with a Kinta. That baby fills the room with cool little Us. You might could get some par cans to go with it. Par cans are a good starting point, and offer plently of no duty cycle light.

peronaly i think you need to save up a bit more, and i really wouldnt go for that package. So far the lights my frineds bought have been £200 each, and theyre just the startoff ones.

Correct, if your budget is $200, you really get what you pay for. I would personally set aside some more money before investing in lights and get something that's really going to be good. But if you need something to start, that would be a good start.

www.sixstardj.com has a lot of decent starter packages. Check it out.

Consider 1 or 2 American DJ Vertigo(s). It lights up a big area. Lots of moving colored lights. And it comes in a small package. You could get it for about $50 each on eBay.

Also get some par lights with controller like the Nad113 lighting package for about $100.

You will also need a tree stand.

Chauvet Double Derby and Duo Moons. I have both of those lights; love them. My entire lighting rig is Chauvet, wouldn't trust anybody else.

I have a Chauvet ZX-15. Best light I came across so far... Not quite an Intellegant light, but then again - whens the last time you saw the crowd members trying to find out your lighting rig?

PSSL is pretty good. The Kinta and the double derby are very similar. I also have all Chauvet lighting except for a Martin Raptor and I wish I had never bought the Martin.

My entire light rig is Chauvet with the exception of the blacklight. Even if it's your first set, I would go for a Kinta. You can leave that sucker on all night without the worry of it catching fire. The other thing I would suggest would be par can's. That would be a good start. Just remember, you get what you pay for. I am sooooo glad i didn't go cheap cuz I have heard some horror stories. Holmz knows what he is talking about as well. Except that he doesn't like the Martin<~~Damn good manufaturer
