Was asked to play some Jackin House at a gig friday but the Sonny Fodera, DJ Mes, Cause & Affect stuff I played didn't really get a response.

Turns out apparently Jackin House means something different here! Can anybody shed some light on big artists in the scene over here? To me it just sounds like 'bassline' but with a different name.

TBH I'm not feeling a lot of it but I do like the odd tune that has a bit of an old UK Garage feel to it

great fave track mate, classic. whereabouts are you cos i play jackin house a la dj mes, sonny fodera, craig hamilton etc but my mate dj's in leeds and he says that 'jackin' house round there is basically bassline/scouse house but slowed down. you should stick to what you play fuck what other people are calling jackin cos from the names you have mentioned in your post i know you wont be that bothered about mixing the other stuff

p.s. what were into is proper jackin house, always has been always will be.

Sometimes playing within the genre isn't enough and you have to still find music that fits the mood. All you really need to be under "Jackin'" is a bit of swing and a bassline. Sounds like you're playing a lot of the blues and disco type stuff.

I have noticed though the lines between jackin' and UK garage have blurred quite a bit lately. In fact I've been mixing the two as a result. The hottest jackin' guy for me right now happens to be from the UK too -- Scott Diaz. Give him a shot if you haven't already.

I'm in Birmingham. I think that's where the bassline influence comes from

This - his jackin' and garage is sick. Not a huge fan of his soulful stuff.
